ASIN

(Thai, 1980)

The artist, known as ‘Asin’, adopted this pseudonym by combining his own name with the word ‘Sin’. He was particularly captivated by the movie ‘Seven’, which revolves around a serial killer who commits murders based on the seven biblical sins.

One of the most distinctive aspects of Asin’s artwork is his character called ‘Chicken’. The creation of this character was influenced by a Japanese children’s book as well as his early life spent on the family farm.

Asin incorporates ‘Chicken’ into his murals to convey a message that is visually and intellectually stimulating. Inspiration stems from observing the world around him as a member of our society. Anything can leave an impact, and ‘Chicken’ serves as a vessel for storytelling. Sometimes, it represents his own narrative, and at other times, it resonates with experiences of others.
