BANKSY

2003
Silk-screen on wove paper
Hand-numbered edition of 750
35cm(h)x45cm(w)

This is one of the very first Banksy prints ever to be officially released, based on the image of the ‘Unknown Protester’ at Tiananmen Square. Recreating the scene in his signature black and white stencil style, while inserting a sign in the protestor’s hand, synonymous with the placards often seen on the UK’s shopping streets.

The artist once said ‘We can’t do anything to change the world until capitalism crumbles. In the meantime, we should all go shopping to console ourselves.’
