Presenting Crash’s Collection at Aurum

30/04/2020

We at Aurum Gallery Bangkok have the honour of presenting Crash’s artwork in our collection.

Born John Matos in 1961, Crash was raised in the Bronx, New York. Taking the name “Crash” after he accidentally crashed the computer in his school, his name began appearing on trains circulating all throughout New York City.

By 1980, the artist began transitioning from train yards to galleries, he curated the ground-breaking “Graffiti Art Success for America” at Fashion MODA, launching the graffiti movement that has remained very active throughout today.

Today, his works are held in the permanent collections of the Brooklyn Museum, the Boca Raton Museum of Art, the New Orleans Museum of Art and many more.
