The inimitable Belin at Aurum Gallery
03/06/2020
Aurum Gallery Bangkok is honoured to present the inimitable Belin as part of our collection.
Miguel Ángel Belinchón is a Spanish artist, known in the art world as Belin. Born in the Andalusian city of Linares, he began his art training at the José Nogué school located in Jaén. He dropped out of school shortly and began training himself by visiting libraries, museums and cathedrals.
At the age of 15, Belin began experimenting by spray painting on the streets of his hometown. This was his initiation into the art world, in the midst of the persecuted graffiti culture of the 90s, bombarding the neighbourhoods in his city with signatures and lettering. It was here that he perfected his spray technique that has made his work recognisable worldwide.
As a perfectionist, the artist constantly strives to achieve absolute mastery of the spray and hyper-realism technique. He experiments with the deformation of anthropomorphic reality, breaking down animals and humans and creating a universe through which he transmits personified behaviours of society.
